Position Description:
Ocala First United Methodist Church is a historic church in close proximity to a vital downtown and historic district. We are in a truly vital mission field for families with children. The Director of Family Ministry will assist in achieving the mission of the Church by providing leadership to a vibrant, age-appropriate ministry for Children and their families. The best candidate will be able to identify, equip, and resource volunteers and staff to provide ongoing Wednesday Night programming, Sunday Morning programming, and special events throughout the year. This person will be a strong leader of leaders who will bring the best out in people helping them to experience the joy and fulfillment of serving our youngest members and their families. This is a Fulltime, exempt position with competitive pay and benefits. The Director of Family Ministry shall be responsible for the following ministry functions:- Nursery
- Family Ministry
- Sunday Mornings
- Wednesday Nights
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- Clear criminal background check.
- Christian Discipleship:
- Growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Commitment to live and model a lifestyle that honors God.
- Strong knowledge of the Bible and Doctrines of The United Methodist Church.
- Manifest a call to Children’s Ministry.
- Have a humble character, a servant’s heart, and a teachable spirit.
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Positive rapport with children, parents, leadership, and church staff.
- Ability to recruit, train, and support volunteers and leaders.
- Commitment to personal openness, integrity, and honesty with regard to interpersonal relationships.
- Have initiative, be a self-starter.
- Must be organized and able to multi-task.
- Must have a strong ability to meet deadlines and adjust spontaneously.
- Ministry Skills:
- Spiritual Leadership.
- Dynamic Teaching.
- Knowledge of developmental needs of children.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Team-based, collaborative approach to ministry.
- Administrative leadership and coordination.
- Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited college or university, preferably with a children’s ministry focus.
- A proven track record of demonstrated leadership in children’s ministry in a church or parachurch setting.
