Director of Youth Ministry – Boone, NC

Position Description:

The Director of Youth Ministry at Boone UMC in Boone, NC, will have a passion for the gospel, a deep desire for students to experience the hope of the gospel, a commitment to team- building, leadership development, and an ability to articulate and implement a clear vision for Youth ministry that is in keeping with BUMC’s mission.

  • Lead youth ministry of 50+ active students with a goal of growth across all areas of possible engagement.
  • Plan, develop, implement and oversee effective weekly, seasonal and annual Boone Youth programming and mission opportunities – including but not limited to Sunday School, Sunday evening youth, weekly bible studies (middle school and high school), and small groups for grades 7-12 in collaboration with youth ministry assistant, small group leaders, church staff and other volunteers
  • Build relationships with youth and their families by connecting with them beyond Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings by meeting youth and their families beyond the church walls i.e. attending their sporting events, community events, concerts, musicals, etc. Additionally, seek ways to build relationships with students who may not yet know Jesus or are not yet engaged in the ministry
  • Recruit, train and sustain an effective volunteer team to work with youth in all aspects of Boone Youth, ensuring sufficient volunteer support and Safe Sanctuaries requirements at all times
  • Communicate weekly with youth parents through various avenues
  • Coordinate annual Senior Banquet to honor high school graduates
  • Help assimilate and connect youth and families who are new to BUMC
  • Support Director of Children’s Ministry as needed with Confirmation program for 6th Graders as they bridge into youth ministry, and collaborate with Children’s Minister for cohesiveness within family ministry
  • Develop and manage the youth ministry budget in consultation with Finance Committee and the BUMC Office Administrator
  • Identify and nurture the spiritual gifts, talents and passions of the youth and provide support for them to be used
  • Develop rhythms of self-care and spiritual renewal on a regular basis
  • Help students learn the beautiful uniqueness of our United Methodist theology.

Position Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team of leaders, develop and oversee a budget and coordinate ministry with a large church staff to achieve the mission of the church.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning including the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities as well as demonstrated ability to execute well organized programs and events
  • Effective communication skills with both youth and their parents
  • Bachelor’s degree required – youth ministry or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in working with youth in a team setting

Director of Family Ministries – Winston-Salem, NC

Position Description:

The Director of Family Ministries is responsible for organizing and overseeing all educational and ministry programs that support and nurture our children, youth, and their families at Calvary Moravian Church. As an integral part of a comprehensive team ministry, the Director will work with the Pastors, Director of Music and Congregational Ministries, and Christian Education Committee to provide Christ-centered spiritual development in the tradition of the Moravian Church. Minister of Children & Youth – Forest City, NC

Position Description:

The Mount Vernon Baptist Church of Forest City, NC, Minister of Children and Youth’s primary responsibility will be all activities, programs, camps, missions work, etc. for youth 8-12th grades. He will also be responsible for overseeing and assisting the Children’s Director with events and activities related to the children’s programs. Mount Vernon Baptist church is located in the foothills of NC between Charlotte and Asheville. ​The potential candidate must be biblically sound as found in scripture 1 Timothy 3 and possess a calling and a passion to connect with students and their families. It is essential that the person chosen for this position have a willingness to invest time and effort in building relationships with the children, youth, and the church body as we all grow together spiritually.   Because this position is a ministerial position, in accordance with our church guidelines, we would prefer a married man with education and experience in ministry and someone who has an enthusiastic and encouraging personality. He must be at least 21 years of age. Education preferably a degree in biblical and/or educational studies; a plus would be a Seminary graduate or current seminary student.   The Minister of Children and Youth’s primary responsibility will be all activities, programs, camps, missions work, etc. for youth 8-12th grades. He will also be responsible for overseeing and assisting the Children’s Director with events and activities related to the children’s programs.​However, his primary interest shall be youth grades 8-12. The Minister of Children and Youth will oversee the work of the Children’s Director. Christ UMC is a vibrant, growing community of faith situated in the Southern Village neighborhood in Southwest Chapel Hill. Since coming out of the pandemic, our children and youth ministry has continued to grow and flourish with new families moving into the area and making this their church home. The Director of Children and Youth Ministry prioritizes the formation of children and youth in every aspect of their work, from planning events to mapping curriculum for Sunday mornings (children) and evenings (youth). They work closely with parents and guardians both in terms of communication and planning as well as in the development of servants to help support their ministry.   • Oversee the NextGen Ministries security and background checks of all Dream Team Members.

Position Qualifications:

  • Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude and behavior.
  • Administratively-minded individual who is process and detail oriented, with an ability to see the big picture.
  • High capacity, self-starting, multi-tasking individual, comfortable working independently in a high-paced environment, while maintaining good judgment in decision making and prioritization.
  • Experience managing and training people.
  • To be licensed by a state within the United States or be an ordained minister.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred).
  • Prior experience in Next Gen ministries or a related associate pastoral role, 3-5 years required.
