First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, Florida, a vital and active congregation, with an average attendance of about 1,600 and a staff of about 115, is searching for a full time Director of Youth and College Age Ministries. Our Youth Ministries area is a growing ministry and is housed in and shares a ministry center with other youth/young adult vital ministries including our weekday Neighborhood Ministries which include an after-school and all day summer ministry, along with an active scouting program. This position is an important part of the GROW (Age Level) team of staff and volunteers. The Director works in all facets of Youth and College Age ministries with a strong and important leadership emphasis on leading our youth and young adults into a deeper relationship with God and each other as well as missional involvement, both in the local community and beyond. Regular programming includes Sunday morning, Sunday and Wednesday evening youth programming, and several and various week night small groups and events for college age young adults.

Qualifications: The Director of Youth and College Age Ministries shall be grounded in basic Christian doctrine, having and professing faith in Jesus Christ. He/she shall agree to uphold the Staff Social Covenant and Church Personnel Policies. He/she shall be familiar and in consonance with Wesleyan theology, United Methodist Church polity and practice. He/she must have a thorough understanding of ministry to youth and college age and shall demonstrate managerial skills necessary to oversee the staff, volunteers and program of the Youth and College Age Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, Fl. He/she shall be committed to and seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth, willing and able to work with other staff/areas of the ministry of this church in a collegial manner.
Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in education preferred
