Position Description:

Christ UMC is a vibrant, growing community of faith situated in the Southern Village neighborhood in Southwest Chapel Hill. Since coming out of the pandemic, our children and youth ministry has continued to grow and flourish with new families moving into the area and making this their church home. The Director of Children and Youth Ministry prioritizes the formation of children and youth in every aspect of their work, from planning events to mapping curriculum for Sunday mornings (children) and evenings (youth). They work closely with parents and guardians both in terms of communication and planning as well as in the development of servants to help support their ministry. They will be highly motivated, organized, efficient, and detail-oriented as they work together with laity to serve in ministry together. The Director of Children and Youth Ministries is part of the church ministry staff team and collaborates with other staff members, clergy, and lay members to further the work of God here in Southern Village and beyond. *Christ UMC is open to one full time person who will do both children and youth ministry or two part time persons who will each do either children or youth ministry.   • Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate curriculum for formational opportunities (Sundays and beyond) and other activities.

  • Recruit, train, and support servants to serve in various aspects of children and/or youth ministry.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with coursework in childhood education, theology, or related fields.

  • Strong administrative skills, with the ability to manage a budget, attention to detail, and effective and thorough planning skills.
  • Basic knowledge of childhood development, including an understanding of the cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of children and youth.
  • Familiarity with theology in the Wesleyan tradition, with a commitment to incorporating Wesleyan principles into children’s ministry programming.

Next Generation Pastor – Pembroke, NC

Position Description:

Berea Baptist church in Pembroke, NC, is currently accepting resumes for a Next Generation Pastor. The NGP will be responsible for our Youth and Children’s departments. The primary focus will be the Youth ministry responsibilities. This candidate will also work with the Children’s Ministry Director to coordinate, oversee, and plan the strategy and activities for our Children’s Ministry. We exist to teach students about the God, the Bible, and encourage them to live out their faith. The Student Minister will:

  • Create and facilitate an environment that helps students (6-12 grades) discover God, develop their faith and show Christ-like love.

Snyder Students is a vibrant student ministry composed of a middle and high school ministry, with many different opportunities for students to be discipled and use their gifts to glorify God. Snyder Students has a hundred students on its roll, which continues to increase. We are comprised of life groups, youth choir, Sunday school, dance ministry, praise band, leadership team and a strong emphasis on missions. We are looking for someone to lead our students and partner with Snyder Students’ many ministries. Our student ministry functions with Life groups as our front door, with the various ministries falling within the funnel. Life groups are an easy way to see what we’re all about, and we encourage every student who comes to life groups to try out youth choir. We want every student in the youth choir to try out Sunday school and so on.
