Position Description:
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, MD, seeks a Youth Ministry Coordinator who will be responsible for:- Parish Ministry Coordination - Coordinating the Regional Youth Ministry representatives to develop responsive, effective and organized parish Youth Ministry programs
- Communicating the vision, goals, policies, and program procedures of the Archdiocese and Catholic Youth Organization as directed toward youth and adult leaders
- Maintaining active liaison with parish personnel involved in programs and services to youth providing needed support and developmental programs
- Connecting Parishes to other Parishes in order to formulate relationships and shared best practices.
- Conducts Parish visits to gather information on best practices and parish youth structures.
- Providing opportunities for the spiritual and personal growth of youth and adult leaders.
- Assisting in the development of adult and youth leaders with regards to leadership, professionalism, and visioning
- Coordinates Parish Regional Representatives to develop effective Parish Youth Ministry.
- Oversees budgets and corporation subsidy income and expenses to Regions.
- Establishes goals, objectives, and programs for the CYO in collaboration with the staff.
- Develops relationships with leaders to include all programs under the direction of the Catholic Youth Organization. Including Athletic Ministry and Catholic Scouting.
- Serves as liaison to coordinators of parish youth ministry (paid and volunteer)
- Serves as principle liaison to high school campus ministers
- Maintains a visible relationship with parishes, schools, and youth serving agencies
- Assists in providing professional development for youth and adult leaders
- Coordinates Parish Regional Representatives to develop effective Parish Youth Ministry.

- Coordinates and participates with staff with involvement of ADW youth and adult leaders in national and international gatherings. (NCYC, NCCYM, WYD) Regional Administration
- Prepares annual budget request and monitors expenditures of funds.
- Is the Liaison with CYO Regional Youth Ministry Representatives.
- Collaborates in the coordination of the annual Youth Rally and Mass for Life event.
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of Youth Leadership for program development.
- Conducts monthly and quarterly youth ministry network meetings for Parish Youth Ministers
- Researches Youth Ministry training materials and workshops for content.
- Attends Regional YM meetings as requested/required.
- Attends Staff meetings as requested by the President of the CYO
- Collaborates with the Office of Catechesis in the development of adolescent catechesis within the framework of comprehensive youth ministry.
- Develops and maintains content for YM best practices and guidance procedure and ensure compliance by parish/school youth ministry personnel with Child Protection.
Position Qualifications:
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to be innovative, courteous, tactful and make good judgments
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Ability to travel both locally and out of state.
- Ability to travel and stay overnight and over single and multiple days.
- Ability to chaperone youth and lead retreats.
- Possess management and organizational skills such as organizational development, long/short term planning, time management, volunteer management and budgeting
- Skilled in facilitation of group projects
- Experience in retreat work
- Seeks innovative ways to integrate technology (i.e., specifically social media) into ministry with youth, young adults, and adult leaders
- Possess high standards of integrity and trustworthy due to access/contact with confidential/sensitive information and data
- Practicing Catholic able to witness to the Sacramental life of the community
- An understanding of and commitment to the mission of the Archdiocese of Washington Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Youth Ministry or Religious Education, related field or equivalent work experience
- Three years of experience in parish ministry and three years’ experience in youth ministry at an administrative or management level or a combination of both.
- Certification in Youth Ministry, Pastoral Ministry, or Religious Education is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish or willingness to learn
