Position Description:

Nevada United Methodist Church in Nevada, MO, seeks a part time Youth Director with schedule of an average of 10 hours per week for 48 weeks of the year. This time includes Sunday, one additional evening, and some preparation time (preparation time does not have to be on campus). Additional salary may be available for mission trips or special events as approved by the supervisor. The Youth Director will develop a youth program that combines spiritual development and enhancement with fun/food/fellowship for youth from 6th grade through 12th grade. The youth program are currently engaged in "Donuts and Devos" on Sunday morning, offering a community wide 5th Quarter after home football games, and working to grow into a larger youth group to meet the needs of our youth. Creativity and latitude are welcomed within the position as the youth director grows. She/he will develop rapport with students to create an open and trusting environment where all youth feel comfortable tackling difficult issues, finding acceptance, and enjoying time together. The Youth Director is accountable to the Lead Pastor.

Position Qualifications:

The Youth Director is on fire for Jesus Christ and committed to creating an environment where youth can encounter and grow in Christ within the experience. She/he should have spiritual gifts in encouragement, faith, teaching, and humility. He/she should be skilled in people management, be a good learner, recruiter, and motivator, and be willing to work as a team player. Creativity and flexibility are necessary when working with teens, and the ability to laugh at oneself. The Youth Director will be a stable and mature Christian eager to grow within his/her faith and encourage others to do the same.
