Camp Director, Neptune, NJ

The Greater New Jersey Conference is seeking a full time Camp Director. The Next Generation Ministries Camp Director serves as the head of camping ministries at the Pinelands and Aldersgate properties, leading camp ministry staff and volunteers to be increasingly effective in providing a world-class camp, conference or retreat experience, aligned with the Next Generation Ministries strategic plan.  The camp director brings energy, ministry vision, inspiring leaders, and the ability to attract a growing number of groups and individuals to utilize the tremendous resources of Pineland and Aldersgate.

Essential functions for this position include:
  • Inspire and lead camping staff with a unified vision, in a way consistent with the vision and values of Next Generation Ministries.
  • Manage the hiring of program staff and ensure the effective, well-coordinated implementation of those programs.
  • Develop and expanding menu of innovative programs each year.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for key camping staff.
  • Provide leaders, parents, youth, congregations, GNJ mission partners, conference staff, and the annual conference with magnetic invitations to enjoy the benefits or invest in a conference, retreat, or camp at Pinelands or Aldersgate.
  • Work in consultation with the Executive Director of Next Generation Ministries and the Staff Action Team to implement the Next Generation Ministries strategic plan.
  • Develop and maintain a web of connection among churches and leaders who are champions of Pinelands and Aldersgate.
  • In collaboration with the Camp Operations Director and the Executive Director of Next Generation Ministries, prepare an annual budget for camping ministry.

Qualification for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Camp Leadership / Certification preferred
  • Five or more years in a camp/conference or similar work environment
  • Youth ministry experience
  • Proven experience in management and marketing
  • Experience working with students of varied ages and a variety of cultures
  • Experience working with a variety of cultures

Summer Youth Ministry Internship (PAID), Toms River, NJ

About us

The Presbyterian Church of Toms River is an approx. 1000 member church in Toms River, NJ. We are located in Ocean County about 1 hour from both New York City and Philadelphia and just minutes to the Jersey Shore. Our regular programs consist of Breakfast Club on Sunday mornings and CAST (Jr. High) & FISH (HS) Youth Group on Monday nights with approx. 40-50 students attending one of our programs each week. We are blessed with a session, staff, congregation, group of parents and team of volunteers who are very supportive of the youth and youth ministry and are committed to making sure students are loved and cared for.

What would you be doing?

  • Contact work – Getting to know students through making contact with them outside of regular programs (taking them out for coffee, attending their sporting/band/theater events, asking them how they are doing and how you can pray for them, etc.)
  • Plan and Lead regular programs with the help of the youth director and volunteer team (Sunday School, Youth Group)
  • Plan and Lead special activities with the help of the youth director and volunteer team (service projects, fun events etc.)
  • Attend and help with planning for one of the summer trips
  • Administrative duties such as publicity, organizing transportation, overseeing a budget, and attending meetings that deal with the youth ministry etc.

About the Internship:

  • Dates: May 29th – August 16th, 2018. Full time.
  • Stipend: $3500.00
  • Transportation: $100 Mileage Reimbursement
  • Room and Board: Provided by members of the congregation
  • Positions: There are 2 positions open, ideally one male and one female with both interns working with High School and Jr. High students.
