Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries, Augusta, KS

Augusta United Methodist Church is searching for a Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries (DCYM).  It is a full-time position with ministry responsibilities related to children, youth, and their families. The DCYM ensures the day-to-day operations of the ministries run effectively in order to help Augusta UMC children, youth, and their families know God’s love, grow in God’s love, and show God’s love.  Responsibilities include:

  1.  Maintains a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Holds scriptural knowledge and United Methodist theology.
  3. Creates a Christ-like environment whereby children and youth are given an opportunity to know God’s love, grow in God’s love, and show God’s love with one another and the world around them.
  4. Coordinates with the Pastor to ensure the vision for the children’s and youth ministries align with the overall church’s vision.
  5. Nurtures warm, caring, authentic relationship with children, youth, and adults. Must value and honor confidentiality and healthy boundaries.
  6. Oversees balanced programs that engage families where they are and encourages them to the next level in knowing, growing, and showing God’s love.
  7. Communicates clearly and compassionately.
  8. Leads recruiting, training, and celebrating children and youth ministry volunteers.
  9. Advises and works with staff and key volunteers to guarantee the quality of the ministries and the effective use of resources.
  10. Serves as a partner to parents/guardians and the community in nurturing children and youth to know, grow, and show God’s love in their lives within and beyond the church walls.
  11. Serves as a team member of the staff, enthusiastically supporting the efforts and direction of the church.
  12. Coordinates with the finance committee to develop and function within an annual budget.

Qualifications and Aptitudes:

  1. Maintains flexibility and possesses a teachable spirit with a willingness to learn, grow, assess, and adjust in order to be an effective minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ in Augusta, KS.
  2. Seeks opportunities for personal and professional growth through reading, trainings, and networking. Maintains an understanding of current trends in children’s and youth ministry.
  3. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is minimum requirement.
  4. Five to ten years of local church experience is desired.
  5. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills.

Director of Children and Youth Ministries, Atchison, KS

First Christian Church of Atchison, Kansas, is seeking a full-time Director of Children and Youth Ministries to oversee and enhance its children and youth ministry program. The Director of Children and Youth Ministries will engage children (birth through 5th grade), youth (6th -12th grade), and their families in order to help them grow in their faith and be empowered to take their place in the life and ministry of the church. FCC is one of the largest Protestant churches in Atchison and one of the fastest growing Disciples of Christ churches in the Midwest. Atchison  is a community of 11,000 people, located in Northeast Kansas on the banks of the Missouri River, near Kansas City, and is the birthplace of Amelia Earhart. FCC has recently remodeled the children and youth wing of the church, and is looking for a director to take the program to new and exciting places!  Working in collaboration with the Christian Education Ministry Team, this person will:

  • Provide weekly programming for children and youth to develop spiritually both personally and communally.
  • Plan, promote, and lead mission trips and service projects.

Director of Youth Ministries, Wichita, KS (part time)

First United Methodist Church in downtown Wichita, Kansas is seeking an energetic individual with a passion for youth faith formation to lead our middle and high school programs. This position is part-time (20-25 hours per week) and includes flexible scheduling, with Sunday mornings required and Wednesday nights required during the school year. Youth Pastor, Goddard, KS

Job duties include:

  • Coordinating programming for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening
  • Recruiting and deploying volunteers
