Student Pastor, Orlando, FL

General Responsibility

The Director of Student Ministry is responsible for leading our middle and high school youth to Jesus Christ by developing and unitizing the Youth ministry programs of Heritage. In addition, they will give assistance to the Senior Pastor in the worship and care of the entire Heritage United Methodist Church family. Duties to include but not limited to all activities that help students and their families to develop their faith through learning experiences. Additional duties may include participation in worship, preaching, teaching, and counseling.

Staff Responsibility

Take responsibility for the quality of their relationships with volunteers, other staff and the general church body. This position must be engaged with our faith community using sound biblical practices effectively and serving in various ministries when needed and sharing their faith openly and freely.

Employment Conditions

  • The applicant must have theological agreement with Wesleyan doctrine and tradition; be active in the life of the church, attend worship services regularly and be growing in their walk with Christ.
  • The position of Director of Youth Ministry shall be responsible to the Senior Pastor, the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and ultimately, to the Administrative Council. Immediate supervision shall come from the Senior Pastor, who will conduct the annual evaluation of the employee.
  • It is understood that this is a full time position, but the Director of Youth Ministry work hours may occasionally be greater due to the fluctuating demands of some programs.
  • The Director of Youth Ministry shall be encouraged to be involved in continuing education. Requests for funding of desired courses/seminars/conferences should be made to the supervisor.
  • Employment is contingent upon a positive Personal Background investigation. The Director of Youth Ministry or the Church may terminate employment by giving 30 days’ notice. Termination for cause may be made by immediate action.

Director of Family Ministry, Bradenton, FL

Director of Youth Ministries, Port Orange, FL (part time)

Covenant United Methodist Church of Port Orange, Florida is currently looking for our next Director of Youth Ministries to join our staff. We are seeking an individual who has a heart for God and a calling to minister to the challenging and exciting needs of youth and their families. Responsibilities of this new staff person will include but are not limited to working closely with the pastor, staff and volunteers, being an active member in the life of the congregation, and engaging in outreach to the community, especially through the area middle and high schools. Specific responsibilities will be to build working relationships with youth, parents of youth, staff, and the congregation; recruit and train adult volunteers; work with parents, youth, and volunteers to plan, promote and implement ministry opportunities; provide general oversight of all ministries involving youth which include plan and lead biblical teaching opportunities (e.g. Confirmation classes using United Methodist curriculum) and retreats; plan opportunities for local and other mission outreach/trips; grow the ministry by reaching out to the surrounding community and schools; promote United Methodist camps; assist in developing and work with a new Family Ministries committee; follow and oversee adherence to the Child/Youth Protection Policy; plan and manage an annual financial budget for youth ministry.  This position is part-time with 20 to 25 hours expected weekly.  Salary is dependent upon applicable experience, education, and other qualifications.  All interested persons called to minister and lead are asked to please email their resume and a statement of faith.
