Coronado Community United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time person (20 hours per week) to lead its family and children’s ministry. Located in New Smyrna Beach, FL just blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, we offer a rewarding opportunity with lots of support from both clergy and lay leadership. Responsibilities include planning and leading weekly ministry activities for children (from infancy through fifth grade), planning and implementing seasonal family activities, and building/maintaining connections with families in the church, community and our 100 student day school. Will develop and maintain children/family ministry budgets, complete all administration related to curriculum development, supply distribution, and communication with families. Also, includes supervision of Sunday morning nursery staff and ensuring compliance with the Youth and Child Protection Policy as applied to this ministry.

Qualifications:

Requires bachelor degree with coursework in education/early childhood development plus minimum two years’ experience in children’s ministry or student services or equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will thrive in a team environment, have excellent communication abilities, solid MS Office skills, a genuine love for children and a desire to serve God and people. Understanding and knowledge of United Methodist teachings and philosophies a strong plus.

Director of Youth and Education Ministry, New Smyrna Beach, FL

Coronado Community United Methodist Church is seeking a full-time Director of Youth and Education Ministry.  We are a beach side congregation only blocks from the ocean in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Director’s primary purpose is to foster Christian community through building relationships with young people in grades 6 through 12 that strengthen their commitment to the church and growth in faith. Will oversee children’s ministry staff and provide resources for Education Committee and adult educational opportunities.  Responsible for ensuring adherence to the Youth and Child Protection Policy throughout the Church, reporting any issues to the Sr. Pastor. Other responsibilities include planning and leading existing weekly youth programs in ways that maintain their success and facilitate future growth. Director will plan and implement mission, retreat, confirmation, and camp experience as well as coordinate fundraising events, develop and maintain youth/education ministry budgets and complete all administration related to curriculum development, supply distribution, and communication with youth and families.

Qualifications:

Requires bachelor degree, with coursework in counseling, education and/or childhood development plus a minimum of 3-4 years’ experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.  At least 2 years should be with middle school, high school, or college level students in a Christian or secular setting. Successful candidate will be a team player with a call to minister to youth, a genuine love for teens and desire to serve God and people. Must have outstanding communication skills, proven gifts in leadership and strong technology skills.
