The Youth Ministry Institute Board of Directors (pictured below) ensures the mission and values remain constant for the entire organization. Steve Schneeberger is the Executive Director of the Youth Ministry Institute. Beginning in 1985, Steve began a vocation as a youth minister serving churches in Kansas and Florida. He is a 1981 graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park, Kansas, has a business degree from Baker University (1985) and a law degree from the University of Kansas (1988). He is married to Carol, an elementary school teacher and former counselor. They have three children. Steve consults, coaches and teaches Visioning, Organizing and Planning for Success, Budgeting, Helping Youth Over Developmental Hurdles, Beginning Leadership – Mastering the Core Competencies, Conflict Resolution and Expecting Great Behavior for the Youth Ministry Institute.
Jason grew up in the small town of Eden, North Carolina. While in High School he attended a local Wesleyan Church and grew up in their youth ministry. He accepted Jesus as Savior at an early age but really began to understand God’s love and forgiveness in his teenage years. One summer at camp he felt that God was calling him to serve as a pastor. Jason pursued his call and attended Southern Wesleyan University and prepared for ministry. Jason graduated in 2006 with a Bachelors of Arts in Religion. After college, Jason served as a missionary pastor in Caboolture, Queensland Australia (Keith Urban’s hometown). He has been serving in Seminole, Florida as a youth pastor since 2009. Currently he is at Heritage United Methodist Church. He is also a 2011 graduate of the Youth Ministry Institute. Jason’s prayer is that young people will come to know that Jesus loves them and has a plan and purpose for their lives right now.
Lisa Greenwood is Vice President for Leadership Ministry at the Texas Methodist Foundation. She joined the team at TMF after serving five years as a strategist with Horizons Stewardship Company. At the core of Lisa’s ministry is the belief that God is up to something big in this world, nothing short of a world of Love and Justice for all persons. Therefore, driving her service in the church is a commitment to helping individuals and churches discern God’s vision for how they might participate in what God is doing and then move to a life lived fully for Christ. Lisa earned a BA in Psychology from The University of Texas in Austin and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. Ordained in 1992, she has successfully served suburban, urban and rural churches in the North Texas Annual Conference, including ten years in youth ministry. She has also served as the chair of the Order of Elders (2008-2012), a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry (2000-2012), and on the NTC Delegation in 2004, 2008, 2012 & 2016. Lisa speaks frequently to gatherings of pastors, laity and young adults at local church and connectional events in addition to consulting in the areas of church transformation and generosity. She is married to Joe Park. Together they share eight children and live in Dallas, Texas.
Regional Director, YMI Midwest
Matt Vaughan is the regional director for Youth Ministry Institute Midwest. Matt previously served as a youth minister for over 18 years at three churches with varied memberships of 350 to 4,500 members. During his career, he planned over 70 trips, taught 700 confirmation students, and hired 45 interns (of which 18 pursued vocational ministry). He began his career at at United Methodist church and most recently served a Presbyterian church. Matt received theological education from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City and was later certified as a school teacher by the University of Missouri – Saint Louis. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas. Matt and his wife, Amy, live in Prairie Village, Kansas with their two sons. When they are not at a basketball game or tennis match, they yearn to hike, camp, or ski in Colorado and Arizona.
The Rev. Tim Nunez is the Canon to the Ordinary for the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida. He served for nearly 11 years as the rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Belleview, Florida. Prior to that he graduated from the University of the South School of Theology and the University of Florida.
Spencer Geren attended Florida State University majoring in Economics. He began his professional career with Lever Brothers Company (now known as UniLever), working also for Telerx Marketing. He is now working with Deoleo USA, a consumer products food company. His career in consumer products and business analytics has spanned both large and small organizations including sales, management and consulting positions, platform development, coding and end user reporting. He is married and has two grown children.
